A nation-wide network of professionals in education for democracy will be created in the course of this project. The network will be designed and organised in close co-operation with the Ukrainian teachers and trainers. The goal is to help in the creation of an NGO that will continue to exist and work after the EFDU Project ends.
The primary aims of this organisation will be:
- to be a forum for discussion and professional development for educators of democracy;
- to organise meetings and conferences among educators to promote and discuss curricula;
- to identify potentially effective organisations for the dissemination of concepts;
- to influence government education policy;
- to advocate education for democracy programmes;
- to liase internationally with citizenship education NGOs and other relevant organisations.
A quarterly newsletter describes the latest developments and activities of the Education for Democracy in Ukraine Project. It is distributed nation-wide and published on the web-site: www.edu-democracy.org.ua. Subscription to the newsletter is free of charge. The issues that have already been published are available in the Kyiv office and in the resource centres.
